Flash I

During an experiment gone awry, Jay Garrick was gifted with the ability to run at velocities nearing that of light speed. Using his abilities for the good of the people in Keystone City, he became The Flash. He is a kind mentor and a member of the Justice Society of America.

    Edward Clariss was a scientist devoted to uncovering the secret of how Jay Garrick acquired his speed. A bright chemist, he developed a formula that could temporarily mimic the super speed of Speedforce users. Angry at the rejection of his scientific finds, he became The Rival, the first Reverse Flash.

  • Johnny Quick

    Starting as a newsreels photographer, Johnathan Chambers's life would change when his guardian uncovered a complex mathematical equation from an ancient Egyptian tomb. Using this equation could make one's mind tap into a higher dimension and draw out speed energy. Inspired by Jay Garrick, Chambers used this equation to become the super speedster known as Johnny Quick.

  • Max Mercury

    Originally born in the 19th century, Maxwell Crandall worked as a messenger at a fort, communicating between colonists and the local indigenous tribes, whom he befirended over time. Horrified after the tragic massacre of the native peoples, he was granted gifts of super speed from the gods to become a better messenger. He would spend time defending the natives from the colonists that would settle nearby, but one day he ran faster than he had ever run before, and was transported forwards in time and space to New York in the year 1891. Here he would begin his superhero career, juggling many names over time. By 1947, his superhero identity would be known as Max Mercury. He would come to be known as the "zen master of speed."

  • Flash II

    Growing up, Barry Allen was an avid fan of the Golden Age hero known as The Flash. As an adult, he worked as a police scientist for the Central City police department, but one night an accident occurred and lighting struck Barry as he was working in his lab, dousing him in electrified chemicals. This accident would empower Barry with the ability to tap into the Speedforce. Inspired by Jay Garrick before him, Barry Allen became the second person to take up the mantle of The Flash and use his powers to protect the people of Central City, Keystone's "twin city." He would also protect the world alongside the rest of the world's greatest superheroes as a member of the Justice League of America. He would be the defining hero of the Silver Age, and eventually sacrifice himself in order to save the multiverse.

  • Iris West-Allen

    Iris West was a reporter for Central City Picture News. She grew up curious and always wanting to know the truth behind everything, and for a while she worked as a freelancer, photographing riots and other such hot topics. Eventually, she moved to Central City, where she would meet Barry Allen. The two would begin dating, eventually marrying as well, though Iris would become greatly distressed by Barry's tendency to keep secrets and lie by omission, which all culminated to a strain on their relationship when she eventually found out about Barry's identity as the Flash. Their relationship would recover however, and all would be well until Iris's unfortunate demise. After death, it would be revealed that Iris was actually from the 30th century, and was transported back in time by her biolgoical parents to avoid her casualty in a disaster.

  • Kid Flash I/Flash III

    Coming up from a difficult home, Wally West found comfort in his idolization of the Silver Age hero known as the Flash. One summer, to get away from his complicated home life, he spent the summer with his aunt and friend, Iris West, and by extension her fiance, Barry Allen, whom he thought to be dull and boring. Excited to be in Central City, the home of the Flash, arrangements were made for him to meet his hero, though at their meeting in Barry Allen's apartment, the same accident that granted Barry his powers was coincidentally recreated, giving the young Wally West the ability to tap into the Speedforce as well. From then on, Wally West would accompany the Flash on his adventures as his sidekick, Kid Flash, and would begin to see Iris and Barry as his surrogate parents. He would also be one of the founding members of the Teen Titans. Years later, after Barry's "death," Wally would take up the mantle of the Flash to honor him, becoming the third Flash, and moving to Keystone City, where the Garricks live. He would also take Barry's place among the Justice League of America, and would return to the Titans too. He would eventually become the fastest entity in the universe.

  • Professor Zoom/Reverse-Flash

    Eobard Thawne, a resident of the 25th century, grew up lonely in a troubled home where his only solace was his obsession with the Silver Age hero known as the Flash. His obsession led him to intensely studying the Speedforce and grasping its secrets, and learning all that he could about the Flash legacy. One day a miracle appeared before him in the form of a time capsule from the past, and inside it was the old uniform of his idol. Recreating the accident that gave Barry Allen his speed, Eobard would wear the old uniform and attempt to become the Flash of the 25th century, and would eventually meet the person of his affection, Barry Allen, one time while Barry was traveling through time. This encounter would turn sour, however, as when Barry found out that Eobard was putting innocent people at risk and orchestrating disaster to make himself appear as a hero, he reacted with anger. Eobard would be imprisoned, where he would devote himself to bettering himself and using his knowledge of the Flash and the Speedforce in good faith as an instructor and eventual curator of the Flash museum. He would travel backward in time to show Barry his self-improvement and prove to him that they were destined to be partners, however he discovered that someone else had taken his desired place in Barry's life. From then on, he took up the name of Professor Zoom and devoted himself to ruining Barry's life, out of a twisted combination of envy for Barry himself, and a want for Barry to give him the attention that he desires. He is most commonly known as the Reverse-Flash. He would spend some time as a member of the Secret Society of Supervillains.

  • Don Allen/Tornado Twins

    Don Allen was one of Barry and Iris's children. One in a set of twins, he was one half of the superhero duo known as the Tornado Twins, as he was born with only half of the full superspeed capabilities of his father. He was born in the 30th century, after the death of his father. He frequently grew up envious of Wally West, as he felt that his father loved his surrogate son more than his biological children. He eventually entered a taboo relationship with Meloni Thawne, a distant descendent of Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, with whom Don had a child.

  • Dawn Allen/Tornado Twins

    Dawn Allen is the other of Barry and Iris's children. She is the other half of the superhero duo known as the Tornado Twins, and like her brother, was only born with half of the full superspeed capabilities of her father. She, like her brother, was born in the 30th century, after the death of her father, and also gew up being envious of Wally West. She eventually got into a romantic relationship with Jeven Ognats, whom she married and had a child with.

  • Linda Park-West

    Linda Park was a news reporter in Keystone City who would eventually become the wife of Wally West, the third Flash. The two would coincidentally run into each other when she would report on incidents that Wally would happen to be involved with, and at first, she saw him as arrogant and annoying. Over time, the two would get to know each other better after Wally convinced her to stay in Keystone instead of following a job lead in Midway City. Things became rocky when a previous romantic interest of Wally's returned to his side temporarily, though after some communication, Wally and Linda finally came to terms with the fact that they were in love. They would eventually get married and have three children together.

  • Jesse Quick/Liberty Belle

    Born to the Golden Age heroes Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle, Jesse Chambers inherited her father's speed formula, granting her the ability to temporarily tap into Speedforce. Unlike most speedsters, Jesse also possesses abilities of super strength, inherited from her mother. When Wally West was on the verge of becoming lost in the Speedforce, he told Jesse that if he should disappear and not come back, that Jesse would be the next person to take up the identity of the Flash, which did happen temporarily. Jesse is a member of the Justice Society of America and was temporarily a member of the New Titans and Justice League of America.

    Jenni Ognats was the child of Dawn Allen and Jeven Ognats, and was the first born grandchild of Barry Allen, originating from the 30th century. After her birth, her family was attacked by Professor Zoom, and in an attempt to flee, they became stranded on an alternate Earth. Jenni also didn't display any signs of inheriting superspeed throughout her childhood. Her speed would only be triggered once she saw the traumatic imagery of her father being tortured by the alien race known as the Dominators. She would become a member of the Legion of Superheroes, adopting the superhero name XS.

  • Impulse/Kid Flash II/Flash IV

    Born in the 30th century to Meloni Thawne and Don Allen, Bart Allen was the result of a forbidden romance. Born inheriting the full potential for superspeed that his grandfather, Barry Allen, Bart was born with a hypersped up metabolism, causing him to age and develop physically at a rapid rate. When he was only 2 years old, he was physically 12 years of age. Along with the family of his cousin Jenni, his family had to rapidly escape from an attack by Professor Zoom, and in the process, temporarily got trapped on alternate earth. After his father and aunt were killed by the Dominators, he was abducted by the Thawne family, who in the 30th century run Earthgov, where he was experimented on and raised by a virtual reality. Because of his virtual, no-stakes childhood, he grew up without being properly able to assess danger. Eventually his grandmother Iris would take him and flee with him to the 20th century, seeking Wally West's assistance in curing Bart's hyperspeed aging. This problem with aging would eventually be solved, and Bart would take up the superhero name Impulse, moving to Alabama to stay with Max Mercury who would become his mentor. He would be a founding member of the teen superhero group Young Justice, and eventually after the group disbanded, would become a member of the Teen Titans, becoming the second person to take up the mantle of Kid Flash. When Superboy-Prime killed Superboy, Bart would retaliate against Superboy-Prime, alongside Wally West and Jay Garrick, trapping Superboy-Prime in the Speedforce. Bart would return, aged 4 years older, and temporarily become the Flash until Wally West's return. Eventually, he would be killed, ressurected, and de-aged again. At current moment, he has returned to his superhero identity as Impulse.

  • Inertia/Kid Zoom

    Genetically engineered by the Thawnes, Thaddeus Thawne was a clone of Bart Allen whose development was slowed down, as opposed to the hyperspeed aging that Bart experienced. He was groomed by the Thawne family to be the ultimate nemesis to Bart, and was raised to be a slow and methodical thinker, to oppose Bart's impulsive and brash way of thinking. He took up the supervillain name Inertia, sometimes being referred to as the "Reverse-Impulse," and under this name, would frequently attack Bart out of envy for his seemingly perfect life, with the ultimate goal of killing and replacing him. Tad would become a member of the Titans East around the time that Bart became Kid Flash. After Bart took up the mantle of the Flash, Tad would manipulate the Rogues into killing him, only to be approached by Wally West afterwards who proceeded to steal Tad's speed, freezing him in time as a living statue, and displaying him in the Flash Museum. He would later be freed, and afterwards would go on a killing spree, changing his identity to Kid Zoom, only to be killed by the Rogues in revenge for setting them up to kill Bart.
